IDENTITY:THE WORD COFFEE

 

As a point of connection between worlds.

 

The journey to "THE WORD COFFEE" was paved by everything I have encountered, the events that moved me, and the time I have accumulated. Considering how each of these moments led to the present, it feels like an inevitable outcome.

We convey our intentions and thoughts through words.

However, there are also things that words alone cannot fully capture, such as unforgettable landscapes, the sensation of touching overwhelming beauty, or an inexplicable attraction to certain things.

 

For instance, we might find ourselves drawn to certain forms of art or poetic expressions for no clear reason.

When attempting to express something beyond words, the expression often naturally becomes abstract. In the space created, the recipient's own world is reflected, resonating more deeply.

 

During a period when I was suffering from deep mental illness and felt disconnected from the world, I unconsciously sought out expressions left by others—words, music, videos, paintings, and landscapes.

 

They weren't trying to save me.

They were simply there.

 

Yet, encountering various "somethings" within them gradually stirred the halted flow of time.

Among these memories was my encounter with Specialty Coffee.
It held stories of various lands, producers, and roasters. It was different from the coffee I had known since childhood, a special coffee encountered in the casualness of everyday life that instantly transformed my perception. I was deeply moved by the world that unfolded in a single cup and its exquisite taste.

 

Given this accumulation of experiences, it felt very natural for "WORD" to become part of the store's name.

Here, "WORD" does not merely signify "language."

Words are also symbols for conveying intentions and information. On the other hand, transcending words as symbols, "Kotonoha" (言の葉), literally "leaves of words," expresses something that possesses its own unique essence, like a leaf, and dances through someone's heart.

 

Expressing the inexpressible is not limited to art or creative endeavors. For example, brewing coffee might also be a form of expression to connect with someone's world.

As I personally experienced.

 

Isn't it a universal experience that something born from daily activities resonates with one's memories and experiences, touching the heart as "something" beyond words?

The logo of THE WORD COFFEE is inspired by leaves blowing in the wind.

The illustration on the package represents "Kotonoha" traversing from world to world.

Where that "something" goes and what it becomes is left to the recipient.

 

What we weave might be just a fragment of this world.

Nevertheless, that fragment touches someone's world, creates something new, and is woven further.
Perhaps such definite moments accumulate, shaping individual landscapes.

Simply touch, and feel.
Even that alone might hold value.
