ACACIA HILLS COFFEE ESTATE

Acacia Hills has been producing coffee with a focus on quality since 2007 at the foot of Mount Oldeani, located in the Ngorongoro area.
They started producing specialty coffee with the goal of increasing the value of Tanzanian coffee, which at the time was only recognized as a commodity.
This farm, located at an altitude of nearly 1,900m, cultivates a wide variety of high-quality coffee species. They have also improved quality through efforts not seen in other regions, such as soil analysis, shade management, controlled fermentation, and drying under shade.

On the other hand, the farm is adjacent to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which is home to diverse wildlife, and measures against animal damage are also a challenge. They are also cutting-edge coffee producers who confront environmental protection head-on in a situation where further development is not permitted.
By providing stable employment and fair wages, new shops and businesses have emerged around Acacia Hills, contributing to the revitalization of the local economy. They also have accommodation facilities, allowing some workers to work year-round.


During harvest, only ripe red cherries are picked by experienced pickers (90% of whom are women). After harvesting, they are hand-sorted to remove unripe and overripe beans. After the skin is removed by a pulper, the top quality beans are dried on African beds placed under shade nets, while the regular grade beans are dried under direct sunlight. After the parchment is sufficiently dried for at least 15 days, it is moved to a dry mill for hulling and grading.

KENT Variety

The Kent variety has a history of over 100 years and is a traditional disease-resistant variety said to have once saved the world's coffee industry. It traveled from India to the Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania. The Kent variety, now rare, is characterized by its silky smooth texture, rich body, and mellow sweetness.
