Nicaragua COE2025 Awarded Lot
El Palacio is a historic coffee farm with a history spanning over 100 years, dating back to 1984. It began when Tránsito Chaves, the great-grandfather of the current 4th-generation owner Fernando Chaves, was captivated by this richly natural mountainous region while living in a town on Nicaragua's Pacific coast. He purchased land in this high-altitude hilly area and moved there. The pioneering of the coffee farm from scratch has now become the livelihood of the Chaves family for over a century, and their dedicated commitment to the coffee industry for over a century is a source of family pride. Currently, they continue to protect the farm with Fernando's son, Arturo.

El Palacio
Jinotega, where the El Palacio farm is located, is known as one of Nicaragua's leading coffee-producing regions. Excellent coffee is produced here due to the mild and stable temperatures suitable for coffee production and the cool mountain breezes. At the high altitude of 1250m at El Palacio farm, the cherries slowly accumulate nutrients and mature gradually, influenced by the significant temperature differences between day and night. This blessed microclimate is said to foster distinct and complex flavors.
Today, the farm is also undertaking initiatives aimed at more sustainable and environmentally friendly coffee production. In particular, they are focusing on promoting soil health and biodiversity to maintain the benefits of El Palacio farm's microclimate. They manage the farm with pride, ensuring its continuity for future generations, never forgetting the pristine landscape that captivated Tránsito over 100 years ago. The history of El Palacio farm continues, preserving the history of Jinotega's coffee industry and hoping that their passion and love for coffee will be reflected in its flavor.
