ETHIOPIA GESHA VILLAGE CHAKA GEISHA

Ethiopia Gesha Village Chaka Geisha

Geisha Village, located in the birthplace of Geisha coffee

Gesha Village Farm is located in Benchmaji, a jungle region in western Ethiopia. The land where Gesha Village Farm is located has been protected by the indigenous Me'anit people as the guardians of the forest for centuries. In order to create a great coffee farm on this land, the owners had many discussions with the Me'anit people, deepening their mutual understanding and starting to build the farm together. While always striving for mutual understanding, they have continued to value consideration for the natural environment and the creation of employment opportunities, and now Gesha Village Farm has become known to baristas and roasters around the world for its high quality and the production of micro lots, which is rare in the country.

The owners, Adam and his wife Rachel, fell in love with this area while working on a film. After walking through the virgin Gori Gesha Forest, located about 20km from the farm, they arrived at the current home of the Gesha variety, which exudes the scent of jasmine. They experimentally cultivated six varieties selected from the various varieties they brought back from there, and after much trial and error, narrowed it down to three high-quality varieties. Geisha Chaka was selected from three varieties: Gori Gesha 2011, Gesha 1931, and Il Babor 1974 (IF 1974).
